If you are looking for a really great authentic South Indian breakfast spot in Chennai City then Palmgrove Hotel is the place to go. Their restaurant Menaka is a hot spot for Chennaites over the weekends. The place has virtually no décor – it’s a very cafeteria like setting but one really does not go there for ambiance.
Ambrai restaurant is one of the more popular local restaurants in Udaipur. It is all about location, location, location which makes this a real tourist hotspot. Situated on the banks of Lake Pichola, dinning here provides a spectacular view of both the City Palace and the Lake Palace.
If you have a little extra time in Udaipur and are a hard-core pickle fanatic like I am, then you must visit Tilurams. They have been making all kinds of pickles, jams, sauces and murabbas (a kind of jam) for many decades.
At Tiluram’s they just about pickle anything from seeds to fruits to vegetables. Their pickles are stored in giant vats and you can ask to taste just about anything in the store. Some of my favorites were the jackfruit pickle, the lime murabbas (which they highly recommend) and the garlic chutney.

Its authentic food spots like this that make Queens one of the best boroughs to eat ethnic foods in.
Zum Alten Markt is a small family run, cozy restaurant, that serves really good traditional fare.
Located right behind the vibrant Viktualien Markt, Zum Alten Markt offers a welcoming break from all the hustle and bustle. The food is great and the menu offers more variety and interest than the standard fare offered at other places. The interiors are done with , with its elaborate coffered wooden ceiling that came from a 400-year-old Tyrolean castle.
When we visited, they had an entire “Spargel” ( asparagus) menu, which is only in season in spring. Here one could choose from a variety of interesting offering such as ragouts, bakes and pies.
The service is solid, the tabs are affordable. Please note that reservations are a MUST, and they do NOT take credit cards. All in all Zum Alten Markt offers a really nice experience which is a cut above its neighboring rest.
Dallmayr, is an essential stop off for any foodie.
Located in the heart of Munich’s busy Marienplatz area, this gourmet food market sells everything from superb coffee, chocolates and confections, breads to incredible pastries, meats and everything in between. About 2.5 million people visit the main store every year.
Dallmayr was established over three centuries ago when it began as a simple grocers shop. It is now a most famous for its “Prodomo” coffee brand and for top quality good that it sells.
Walking through this store is a true delight as it has special nooks dedicated to all special the foods it holds. Your senses peruse through cutely decorated display cases of candies, bread, seafood and much more. There is a small section of tables located near the bread section where one can eat foods that are purchased from the store.
On the top floor there is a restaurant Dallmyer where you can opt for some light bites, coffee, desserts and of course beer. After all the feasting that one does with ones eyes at Dallmayr …it’s only a mater of time where you need a spot like this to satisfy your cravings.

The Meatball Shop on Stanton Street is a shrine dedicated to one of America’s favorite Italian imports – the meatball!
The concept is so simple and the execution so clever – it blows my mind.
The word gorgeous comes to mind when I think of my experience at BOND ST.
Gorgeous space, gorgeous people and gorgeous food!

There’s a wonderful reason to take a break from the galleries at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City.
Danny Meyer’s Bar Room at The Modern, serves superb Alsatian-inspired cuisine by Gabriel Kreuther with desserts by Pastry Chef Marc Aumont.
Daniel’s is the perfect place to pick for a momentous splurge.
I was taken there, along with the entire family, to celebrate my 40th birthday. We couldn’t have chosen a more ideal spot.
Chef Daniel Boulud has always been one of my favorites. In my eyes, he can do no wrong. Daniel is his flagship restaurant which has earned the distinguished honor of four stars from the New York Times and 3 stars from the Michelin guide. It is currently rated as the 8th best restaurant in the world. That’s a whole lot of accolades for one establishment, all of which are well deserved.
The minute you step into Daniel, you reality is altered. You are enveloped by a quiet grace that abounds the establishment. The decor, by Adam Tihany, is soft and unobtrusive. The service is courteous yet warm and the food…….oh the food!!!
Danile Boulud, along with executive chef Jean François Bruel have created masterpieces on a plate. We tried their eight course tasting menu. Each dish is been has been carefully constructed to maximize mingle flavors and textures to create a really sublime experience with each bite. The chefs have truly mastered the art of celebrating the best of seasonal ingredients.
The pastry chef Dominique Ansel ensures that you save the best for last. Once the savory courses are done, you are showered with freshly baked mini-madeleines, petite fours, and mini chocolate squares. The dessert selection is really wide, where one half of the menu focuses on fruity desserts and the other on more chocolate based ones.
They are all beyond divinity!

I recommend: Albacore Tuna with Ponzu, Blue Fin Tuna and Chu Toro, Grilled Butterfish with Teriyaki Sauce, Crab Roll
Every once in a while …along comes a meal that you just can’t get over.
You find yourself daydreaming about the softness of the ponzu laced Toro or the tantalizing taste of the hot teriyaki butterfish that dissolved in your mouth within seconds.
The flavors you experienced, the textures, the pure artistry of the meal just linger on your lips and clings to your senses.
That is what the Sasabune experience is!
