Must try: Eggs Forestière

Juliette is an ultra charming brassiere in Williamsburg located right next to the famed Egg.

Nested in an area where trendy restaurants open ever so often, Juliette has managed to hold its own. Offering a locally sourced, French inspired menu classic favorites with a twist rule here. The meal we had here was very solid.

The interiors at Juliette are French country whimsy. The space offers locales to suit every mood. There is a vintage barroom up front, a main dining room, a solarium adorned with vines and an extremely popular rooftop bar that is packed during warmer weather.

For those who care, Juliette was recently featured on Project Runway in Episode 9 (Let’s do Brunch)! That is definitely one way you can spend your time here by checking out the scene but for others like me…..the food will occupy you just fine too.

WANDERING MOOSE CAFÉ, WEST CORNWALL, CT

WANDERING MOOSE CAFÉ, WEST CORNWALL, CT

I recommend: Buttermilk Pancakes, Carrot Cake

Wandering Moose Cafe & Caterng on Urbanspoon

If you ever happen to go skiing at Mohawk Mountain, CT, then the Wandering Moose Café is a nice little café option for a pleasant meal.

Located right by the covered bridge in West Cornwall, it has a view of the beautiful river and picturesque mountains in the background. In the warmer months, sitting outside must be a feast for the eyes.

The food here is rather average. Nothing outstanding but the service is very friendly and the place has soul. Its seems to be frequented by locals and the menu offers better food choices than most other places in this area ( choice is rather limited).

We tried their brunch where the highlights of our meal were the pancakes, corn beef hash and a really delicious homemade carrot cake.

So do stop off for a meal, a cup of tea or just a spot of dessert. The Wandering Moose Café promises to soothe the “wandering” soul.

Here is some of what we ate:

CORN BEEF HASH AND EGGS

BUTTERMILK PANCAKES WITH BLUEBERRIES AND CHOCOLATE CHIPS

EGG SANDWICH WITH BACON

EGGS BENEDICT

CARROT CAKE

BUCK’S STRAWBERRY AND MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP ICE-CREAM

Food: ☆☆☆

Ambiance: ☆☆

Must try: Ackee Dip And Plantain Chips , Jerk Chicken

Jerk chicken does not get better this!

Miss Lily’s is my new Mecca for Caribbean food in New York City.

The menu offers modern Jamaican food, which maintains its authentic roots. Chef Bradford Thompson is French trained and has racked up accolades from Food and Wine and James Beard for best chef. All his skills are evident in just one dish – the Jerk chicken! I have never had a bird more tender yet spiced and grilled to perfect crispness.

I really enjoyed everything I tried there. The plantain chips with Akki dip was fabulous and the curried goat with roti was yummy too, albeit a bit watery for my taste. The hot sauces were really spicy and added all the more to the fun and flavor of this wonderful Caribbean oasis!

Multifaceted in its structure – Miss Lily’s weaves in and out of avatars in its Houston Street location. There are three facets to this spot that you can enjoy.

One is the Miss Lily’s bar/ restaurant part. Then there Miss Lily’s Variety & Bake Shop and Melvin’s Juice Box. This is a West Indian Boutique, record store, casual café, bakery and juice bar all rolled into one. The variety store is home to Radio Lily which is Miss Lily’s Internet radio station where a DJ is live streaming Reggae beats. This creates what they refer to as a “cultural social club”.

Basically what is – is a really cool space to hang out at with great eats at arms reach!

Here is some of what we ate:

Ginger Beer

Jaquitos

Ackee Dip And Plantain Chips

Jerk Chicken

Curried Goat

Roti and Rice and Beans
