Urbantag has launched its website and iPhone app today

Urbantag has launched its website and iPhone app today

Hi fellow foodie followers,

I’ve been featured as one of the tastemakers for New York City on this really cool new site called Urbantag which has launched its website and iphone app today.

I’m using urbantag to bookmark and share places I love. I’ve built a great map NYC Hot Spots that you can view here: http://urbant.ag/7TFqq.

We’ve all shared emails and recycled lists of recommended spots – either for an insider’s travel tips to a city, or simply where to eat a good meal in a specific neighborhood. Urbantag gives you a single platform and a beautiful way to share and bookmark places with your trusted network, and discover the world around you.

Check out my map on urbantag at http://urbant.ag/7TFqq

Let me know what you think. Once you follow my map, you can also access on the go by downloading the iPhone app here.

What kind of urbantag maps do you think I should make next?

The Holiday Shops at Bryant Park: Food

The Holiday Shops at Bryant Park: Food

Last night, I was invited to attend a media reception organized to celebrate the opening of The Holiday Shops at Bryant Park.

Every holiday season, Bryant Park is transformed into a vibrant hubbub of activity. This tree-lined space comes alive with twinkling lights, a skating rink and unique vendor booths. This holiday fair features more than 120 artisans and merchants selling one-of-a-kind merchandise that promises to make for exciting holiday gifts.

The Grub Street Food Festival at Hester Street Fair, New York City

The Grub Street Food Festival at Hester Street Fair, New York City

The Lower East Side was really hopping today with New York Magazines Grub Street Food Festival at the Hester Street Fair. This food festival offered up a smorgasbord of some 70-plus-food vendors who were selling everything from lobster rolls to lollipop cupcakes.

Along with all the great food there were some amazing vendors selling their merchandise. Of course my very favorite booth was Pages of My Life Journal , where we were selling our beautiful gratitude journals for women and children.

As a foodie, I find the Lower East Side so charming. Quaint little food shops and restaurants are popping up all over the place and I for one just love to explore it all.

One of my most interesting recent finds was the Hester Street Fair located at Hester and Essex Street.

The Hester Street Fair is a brand new street fair, which is modeled on the Brooklyn Flea. At this hip little market one can find everything from macarons to men’s shirts!

Lucky Rice Festival: Night Market 2010

DUMBO was alive with the festive smells and tastes of Asia, as the Lucky Rice Festival 2010 held it’s Night-Market event under the archway of the Manhattan bridge.

There were Asian food vendors galore, dishing out yummy samples of their tasty treats to foodies who flooded the event. A lot of the samplings were of street foods that are available at the popular night markets in Asia.

I really enjoyed this event. It was well organized and intimate. Read the rest of this entry

We reached around 6:15PM for the event which began at 6:30 PM for the Non-VIP ticket holders (that’s me!!). The line was wrapped around an entire Manhattan city block!!!! It took us almost an hour to reach the entrance! Of-Course I spent the entire hour worrying that there would be no food left for me……Boy was I wrong!
