The China Kitchen at the Hyatt Regency is one of my favorite restaurants in New Delhi. It is on my to-do list every single time I visit.
China Kitchen offers authentic tastes of the grace and subtlety of Chinese food.
It provides a delightful albeit expensive alternative to the extremely popular Indian-Chinese cuisine, served at a dime a dozen restaurants all over India where the dishes are usually drenched in oil, gravies and heavy sauces.
The Peking duck they serve at The China Kitchen is close to perfection. I dream of it even when I’m in New York City.
They make it just the way I like it – so two thumbs way up for the Peking Duck specialist chef who has been imported from one of the top Peking Duck restaurants in China.
He is worth his weight in gold!
You could pick dishes from any part of their menu and you can be guaranteed some really fine fare.
I’m not a fan of their soups but everything else from their appetizers to desserts have a touch of class.
China Kitchen has everything that I look forward to in a really good dinning experience from great service to a neat, airy, modern ambiance to really really good food. Throw some good friends and family into the mix and you have the makings of a really phenomenal evening.
Here is some of what we ate:
STEAMED SPINACH WITH MUSTARD SESAME SAUCE
This is a great appetizer laden with a rich sesame sauce.
TEN TREASURES VEGETABLE SALAD
I love this salad. The vegetables are really crunchy and it is delicately flavored with a wonderful dressing that enhances the flavors of the vegetables.
POT STICKERS WITH GLASS NOODLES AND VEGETABLES
The pot stickers both vegetarian and non vegetarian were pretty good.
XIN JIANG CRISPY PANCAKES WITH LAMB AND TOFU
This is one of our favorite appetizers. I prefer the tofu ones to the lamb. It goes really well with a little chili oil.
THE PEKING DUCK
Oh divinity!
Paper thin, steaming hot pancakes are served with crispy duck, scallions, cucumbers, and other garnishes.
It takes 45 minutes to prepare the duck but you can call ahead and pre-order your duck before you arrive at +91 11 6677 1334.
SIZZLING SEABASS FILLET
This is a nice fish dish that is cooked in a thick, tasty gravy.
STIR FRIED TENDERLOIN
CRISPY CHICKEN WITH FRIED CHILI AND GREEN ONIONS &
BRAISED EGGPLANT
I wasn’t very impressed by these dishes.
WOK FRIED CHICKEN NOODLES
This is a kids and grown up favorite.
CHINA KITCHEN DESSERT COMBINATION
You must try the egg tarts at China Kitchen, served a little warmed, they are delicious.
