Dishes not to miss: Trout Amandine
The Old Faithful Lodge offers an alternative place to stay at whilst visiting Yellowstone National Park. One of the options for visitors is to eat at the Cafeteria, which is housed within its main building.
The Cafeteria offers quick picks of ready foods, which include salads, soups, sandwiches, pastas, entrées and desserts.
The food is pretty bad – some of it is just inedible. The mashed potatoes and meatloaf might have been the worst of what we tried. I think a lot of their side dishes are made from instant mixes – it sure does taste that way. I had the trout amandine, which was the best of what we ate and the carrot cake was not too bad.
What is nice about this cafeteria is that is provides a great view of the Old Faithful Geyser and so if you want to sit in and sip on a hot cup of tea and watch the view without being part of the crowds outside, this is a great venue to do it from.
Here is some of what we ate:
PULLED PORK SANDWICH
TROUT AMANDINE
LASAGNA
MEATLOAF
ROAST TURKEY WITH STUFFING
