The best part of my visit to Chettinad in South India was the food!
Chettinad is very well known for its fiery cuisine. There is great care taken in the preparation of meals. The kitchens are still very traditional using no modern machinery. Everything is hand ground and freshly cooked using the best of local ingredients.
We were so lucky to have visited Chettinad with our good friend Valli Subbiah who took us to stay and experience Chettinad the way her family does.
I can tell you that I have never eaten food like this!!! The food at the Subbiah family home in Chettinad was beyond outstanding. Every meal was a culinary journey of epic proportions.
All the meals were served on traditional banana leaves and eaten using our hands. For food this good, you really can’t let utensils get in the way. We would start our day with multiple dishes served for breakfast including fish, mutton and so on. You can only imagine what we are eating by dinnertime.
Thank you Valli and the entire Subbiah family….we really had the time of our lives!
