One of the best meals I had whilst visiting Inle was at Ann’s Intha House. This traditional Intha home that has been in Tin Tin Ye (Ann’s) family for over a century now.
The home originally belonged to her grandfather and is maintained in its traditional glory. Ann uses this home to showcase her heritage as well as the fabulous flavors of Burmese cuisine.
Ann is a wonderful hostess. Her food is just as delightful as she is. Ann puts in tremendous efforts to uplift lives of the local Intha people. She supports them with in several ways by providing a better life and gainful employment to many in her community.
We were served in traditional Burmese style being seated on mats and eating off a low table. The meal consisted of fresh vegetables grown in Ann’s gardens, flavorful curries, soups and so much more.
If you ever get a chance to visit Inle Lake, do try and arrange a visit with Ann. It is quite an extraordinary experience.
With good food, great company and an unbeatable view – one just can’t go wrong in Ann’s home.
