One Girl Cookies is a place you walk into and your heart just melts.
It was started by Dawn Casale who left her job at Barneys to start her own special brand of cookies and baked treats inspired by family recipes. She was then joined by co- owner/ baker/ husband/ David Crofton who helped her grow her business, which now has a huge outpost in DUMBO.
I am still partial to the original spot off Smith Street that evokes such a sense of comfort and nostalgia. It is dressed in hues of blue and lined with vintage, sepia toned family photographs on the walls.
The packaging is just beautiful and so are the baked treats. One finds delicate bite sized cookies named after special girls/women in their lives such as Lana (a favorite teacher), Lucia (grandmother) and so on.
One Girl Cookies is just the kind of spot that every neighborhood yearns for. They have published a cookbook recently to help bring some of their special flavors into your homes – I guess that will just have to do for now.
