The Malt House has really upped their game in opening their expansive new Financial District counterpart. Located in the heart of historic New York, Malt House FiDi is an impressive tri-level space where each floor offers a different experience catering to all who walk through it’s doors.

I was recently invited to a press dinner at this sleek American styled tavern owned by Darren Shore and Eoin Foyle with some of my favorite foodie friends – Johnny Prime Steaks, I Just Want To Eat and The Cake Dealer amongst others.
Executive Chef Armando Avila (ex STK and Five Napkin Burger) oversees the kitchens at both this location and the West Village one.
The menu focuses on classic American comfort food where Chef Armando takes tremendous pride in crafting each dish that comes out of his kitchen with his own personal touch. He is very particular about everything being made in-house from pickles to sauces and more.
We started off with a beautifully presented ‘Deviled Eggs’ with avocado – topped with sriracha to give it that perfect hit of heat.
I really loved their ‘Artichoke and Crab Dip’ served with crispy plantains. The giant lumps of crabmeat gave way to a deliciously flavored dip.
The Malt House Black Angus Burger is definitely one of the winning dishes here made with a blend of short rib, chuck and brisket served with applewood smoked bacon, roasted cherry tomatoes, onion marmalade, crispy romaine, queso sauce on a brioche bun. This is a really nicely constructed burger with great flavors.
Food aside, the ‘Armory’, a cozy cocktail parlor in the basement, offers an incredible selection of historically themed craft cocktails, more than 200 American whiskies, 40 draft beers, wines and more. What I love is that you can get a flight of beers or whiskeys, which is a great way to taste some of the variety they offer.
I really enjoyed my evening at the brand new Malt House FiDi. Good food in super cool digs with wonderful folks – makes for a really good time.
