Truffle lovers – did you know that you could do so much more than just buy truffles based products at Urbani?
One of the most fun things I’ve done this past month was a Chef’s Table style cooking demonstration at the Truffle Lab at Urbani. My blogger friend Jean Philippe from I Just Want to Eat was with me and we had ourselves the time of our lives.
Chef Kenneth Connors of City Cooking West End led a sit down, 4-course meal that paired truffles in different dishes. The entire meal was paired with a selection of wonderful wines that worked beautifully with each delectable creation.
We started with some truffle chips and these gorgeous “Truffle Asparagus Pizzettes” as a foretaste to the delicious meal that was to follow.
I really loved the “Truffle Pasta alla Spoletina”. This was a simple pasta with minimal ingredients that allowed the quality of the truffles to shine.
We then sampled a “Seared Sea Bass with Truffles” which was served over a bed of asparagus. The sea bass was perfectly crisped and topped with delicious black truffles.
We ended the meal with a “Plum Tart with Ice Cream and Truffle Honey” which proved that truffles can be used in a meal from start to finish.
The cooking class at the Truffle Lab at Urbani was a great experience and I can’t wait to go back for more.
