Alpha Fusion is Henry Yang’s Pan-Asian restaurant on 34th street, serving a mash up of Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese cuisine. This Bond Street trained chef has always been passionate about experimenting with different flavors and textures.
One of the signature dishes at Alpha Fusion is the “Sushi Pizza”. Chef Yang tops a thin fried tortilla with salmon, spicy tuna, seaweed salad, avocado, jalapeño, peanuts, masago and spicy aioli.
What is really interesting about Alpha Fusion is that there is an entire range of vegetarian “mock meat” dishes, which are really akin to the real thing. Chef Henry turned vegetarian about three years ago and his dream is to move his menu towards more plant-based foods. I tried a faux chicken, pork and fish dish and I have to say that it came kind of close to tasting like meat.
There also is an array of fresh sushi and sashimi available at Alpha Fusion where Henry is behind the fish counter himself.
Alpha Fusion really does offer a fusion of many different flavours and tastes so if you are ever in the midtown area, do go check it out.
