Who doesn’t like to have fun with their food?
Well that’s what Mamagoto, in Japanese literally means – “play with food”.
This young, cheery café plays with Asian flavors by combining a dollop of this and dash of that. All of this results in interesting dishes with a whole lot of taste.
The very talented Chetana Sharma, who has added adorable elements that really liven up the ambiance, did the art and interiors of the café.
Mamgotos provides great standard fare at reasonable prices with courteous service and presentation.
So during your wanderings in Khan Market, amble on down to the middle lane and take a refreshing break to go eat and play at Mamagotos.
Here is some of what we ate:
SWEET CORN CHICKEN SOUP
The soup was very good made with a tasty broth and nice chunks of tofu and chicken.
FRIED SPINACH AND TOFU IN MISO SAUCE
I liked the idea of this dish but I felt the sauce was a little to overpowering with miso flavor and the fried spinach was not crispy enough.
HOT BASIL CHICKEN CUPS
I really loved this dish from the “small bites” menu. Minced, Thai style basil chicken served in crispy lettuce cups – what a great idea!
CHICKEN SATAY
Their satays were terrible. It was the only dish in the meal, which was inedible. The chicken was chewy and tasteless and the peanut sauce had nothing going for it.
PRAWN WITH FRESH AND BURNT RED CHILIES
This was a tasty – typically Indo-Chinese type preparation. I liked the spicy, hot and sweet sauce it was laden in.
STIR FRIED VEGETABLES WITH BURNT GARLIC
The vegetables were nice and the burnt garlic added a nice dimension to the dish.
THAI HAKKA NOODLES WITH CHICKEN AND VEGETABLES & VEGETABLE FRIED RICE
Both the noodles and rice were tasty.
FRESH COCONUT ICE CREAM
This ice cream is a coconut lovers delight.
BROWNIE WITH ICE CREAM
A yummy warmed, chewy brownie made for a perfect ending.
