Sangeetha Fast Foods is one of my favorite breakfast spots in Chennai city. I love the local feel of the place. At Sangeetha, they serve a good variety of south Indian breakfast fare. My favorites are the vadas, dosas, mini idlis and upma. If you want to try a little bit of everything then order the “meals”. They make really good South Indian coffee too.

All the food comes piping hot and the service is really quick. They do have a more “up market” air-conditioned restaurant next door called O’Kadey’s but I prefer the regular Sangeetha cafes. Somehow the food is more authentic and so is the experience.

There are several Sangeetha’s all over Chennai city. I usually go to the one on St Mary’s road. At this location they also have a “drive in” option where you can park outside the café and they will serve you food in your car ( just like the good old days at Drive-in Woodlands).

At Sangeethas, they menu is not just restricted to South Indian fare they have a multicuisine menu which includes Chinese, North Indian dishes and continental cuisine. For me, once I start digging into those crunchy vadas and soft idlis – I enter my South Indian food coma and really can’t experiment with the rest of the menu.
