Must try: Grapefruit coupe
Boulud Sud is Daniel Boulud’s newest restaurant, serving vibrant Mediterranean cuisine. With the talented British executive chef, Aaron Chambers at the helm, Boulud’s empire has another proverbial feather in its cap of plenty.
The menu at Boulud Sud encompasses flavors that range from Southern France to Northern Africa. The results are cleverly composed dishes that keep ones interest piqued at all times.
The desserts by Ghaya Oliveira, are beyond divine – just try the Grapefruit coupe with a Sesame Mousse, Rose Gelée, Halva Biscuit and Grapefruit Sorbet. It’s an explosion of the most refreshing flavors, all at one time.
The space is rather stark and unobtrusive, brightened by a smattering of famous Provençal paintings by Van Gogh, Matisse, and Cézanne. Service is efficient and friendly which really serves the theater going clientele very well.
Adjoining the restaurant is a brand new “épicerie” parlor, which sells all kinds of irresistible gourmet deli items, coffees, sweet treats and much more. All of this serves up another winning enterprise for the Boulud name.
Here is some of what we ate:
CELERY ROOT VELOUTÉ
FENNEL AND ORANGE SALAD
SWEET POTATO CAPPELLETTI
MARMITAKO ALBACORE TUNA
NEROLI CHOCOLATE TART
GRAPEFRUIT COUPE
