Must try: Roasted Hudson valley Duck Confit
I found my entire experience at Butter to be really temperamental.
I couldn’t quite fathom whether Butter is a serious restaurant, a lounge or a bar. It seems like each area of the restaurant endeavors to be something else and as a diner I felt a little lost in the lack of cohesion.
The food followed suit. The appetizers bordered on being terrible. We had a braised octopus, which was really rubbery and chewy. This was followed by superb entrees, which consisted of thoughtfully composed, tasty dishes. But then dessert again fell terribly flat. Boring combinations of mediocre sweets really disappointed me.
The service was similar to the food. Though our server was friendly, he treated us with disinterested concern.
I am a huge fan of Chef Alexandra Guarnaschelli on TV but for now I think I’ll continue my adoration on screen only.
Here is some of what we ate:
Cavatappi Pasta with Spicy Lamb Sausage
Braised Octopus with White Beans
Roasted Hudson valley Duck Confit
Seared Hatfield Farms Pork Chop
Sticky Toffee Pudding
Dark Chocolate Pound Cake
