Six Senses Resort Laamu, Maldives: Restaurants

There really is paradise on Earth and it is in the Maldives.

This little island nation in the middle of the Indian Ocean is a true geological wonder. With it’s breathtaking clear waters, unbelievable reefs and sea life, powder white sand beaches and lush tropical groves – what the Maldives offers to visitors is unparalleled.

There isn’t a spot in the Maldives that you could go to and not be blown away. For me, Six Senses in the Laamu Atoll proved to be the absolutely perfect vacation spot.

This eco – friendly resort has managed to find that perfect balance between luxury and back to nature beauty. Everything in the resort is made from local and sustainable materials and yet the way they bring the beauty of the island into every aspect of your stay is true genius.

The food at Six Senses Laamu is wonderful. Most of the restaurants have been created over the ocean thus taking advantage of the amazing beauty of every aspect of the island. It brings in the water, the marine life, the sand and the beautiful blue skies.

You can start your day at breakfast at the Longitude restaurant watching the stunning sunrise or dolphins and sharks swimming in the distance.

To spend long, loungy afternoons, one can order cocktails and snack at the Chill Bar or Chai Lounge where tropical fish are often seen swimming by or through the glass floor.

Altitude is a stunning glass encased wine cellar built in the sea. It offers a superb array of wines and a tasting table with cold cuts, cheeses, dips and oils which provide excellent breakfast or tea time munching options.

When you need a break from the hot sun and ocean waves, there is a great ice-cream parlor and chocolate room called Ice. Here they offer island flavors such as “Pandan Ice cream”.

You can also choose to linger over dinner a romantic dinner at The Leaf Restaurant where one can watch the sun setting over the spectacular aqua marine horizon.

Six Senses Laamu has one of the largest “over the water” restaurant and bar scenes in the Maldives.
