Ente Kerelam in Chennai serves classic Kerala Cuisine in a homey setting. Occupying an old bungalow, the restaurant fans out in several rooms over two levels.

The food can range from being really outstanding to terribly disappointing. Service is super slow but they do try to please. On my last visit to this restaurant I had one of the best meals I have ever had there.

There are a few sure fire dishes that you generally cant go wrong with here. Their appams and stew (vegetarian or mutton) is really good though it can take eons to get your appams.

They have a really great prawn biryani and prawn curry. I find that they just do not do chicken well at Ente Kerelam. I would stick to the seafood and mutton.

If sweets is your thing then do try the payasam which is always a favorite.
