Japanese food in Queens is largely inauthentic and unimpressive. However, Linn is a hidden gem in Astoria where one can actually eat Manhattan quality sushi without paying astronomical sums for it!
Chef Shigenori Tanaka (formerly of Masa) treks all the way from Manhattan to Astoria every day to serve home-style Japanese food that has modern elegance. Each dish is thoughtfully created and delightful.
The omakase ( chef’s choice) is an incredible deal at Linn. For $48 one gets an unbelievable amount of food, including several appetizers, dessert and a great variety of top quality cuts of sushi and sashimi.
If gimmicky sushi is your thing then Linn is not the place of you. The flavors are clean, the quality of fish is very good and the results are quite phenomenal.
Here is some of what we ate:
Shumai
Curry Rice
Dragon Roll
Mach 3 Roll
Linn Special Roll
Omakase
Green Tea Flan
