LIC Market is a delightful Brooklynish bistro housed in the heart of LIC, serving splendid casual New American fare.
Fresh flavors are the name of the game here where their produce is generally sourced locally and menu is seasonally inspired.
Opened by Queens native Alex Schindler, LIC Market fills a void for a go to spot in that area for a really affordable, quality place.
The menu here contains hearty yet refreshing offerings of elevated comfort foods. I tried a knockout “Frittata with Brussels Sprouts”, a really superb “Merluzza Sandwich” and a wonderful plate of roasted vegetables. Their soups are seasonal and satisfying and leave room for dessert – their brownie is fantastic!
Up front there is a cute little market stand with a collection of homemade jams, butters, salsas and so on for sale. LIC Market is that perfect go to spot that promises a great meal and a good time.
Here is some of what we ate:
Butternut Squash Soup
Roasted Tomato Soup
Lentil Soup
White Bean & Barley Soup
Roasted Beet Salad
Frittata of the day: Brussels Sprouts
Roasted Vegetable Plate
Market Burger
Merluzza Sandwich
Slow Roasted Duck Hash
