Walking into Sage General Store in Long Island City, one gets that delightful feeling of entering an old-fashioned country store setting. Everything about this space spells warmth from the wood-burning oven to the cozy tables decorated with charming flower vases.
I tried the lunch menu here and have to say that the food was disappointing. Even though the dishes we ordered sounded and looked really good, the flavors somehow didn’t match up.
I will say thought there is redemption in their dessert selection. They offer a super chocolatey brownie, which really hits the sweet spot.
The service here is uber-friendly and even though the food at Sage General Store was a bit of a let down – the place is not. I, for one, would give it another try.
Here is some of what we ate:
Grilled Portobello Mushroom Sandwich
Slow Cooked Short Ribs
Mac n Cheese
Brownie
Carrot Cupcake
