I was recently invited to sample a spectacular new bread kitchen/ bakery that has replaced the “Hot n Crusty” (eeeks!) that was housed on 63rd and 2nd Ave in Manhattan.
Disclaimer: I was invited as a guest to this establishment for a complimentary meal. All opinions expressed in this post are my own
Bröd is a gourmet eatery, which offers an incredible range of locally sourced, healthy and wholesome foods to eat in or take out.
Everything at Bröd is just bursting with vibrancy. Their carefully curated menu offers everything from soups, sandwiches, prepared vegetables, baked goods, salads and so on that are made from scratch, that day.
Bröd = Bread in Swedish and let me tell you that the fresh loaves that are constantly being brought out from their kitchen are on par with some of my favorites in the city. All their baked goods are made with unbromated and unbleached flour. Here is some fresh challah just being carried out of the kitchen and it really did smell and taste heavenly.
Bröd reminds me one of my favorite cookbook authors Yotam Ottolenghi who is a master of showcasing the freshness and beauty of locally sourced foods.
I was treated to a veritable feast at Bröd and was blown away by all of it – I’m not kidding! I couldn’t stop eating and they couldn’t stop bringing the food out.
What’s even better is that the Bröd is helmed by a super talented team with Chef Hugo Uys and co-owner Monette de Botton. One can just see that there is a homemade touch to everything. Monette makes her own range of chutneys which are available for purchase.
Bröd has plans of eventually opening several outlets in the city and I for one cant wait. What’s better than having access to a seriously fresh, consciously sourced, deliciously healthy meal that’s easily available?
To me – that’s priceless!
Here is some of what we ate:
