Located in Greenpoint in Brooklyn, Cacao Market aims to highlight the burgeoning cacao scene in founder Maribel Lieberman’s native Honduras.
Maribel Lieberman’s effusive ebullience can be felt all over her chocolate market. In meeting her, I understood the passion that has driven her creations.
This apothecary style chocolate wonderland is fashioned with perfect touches of whimsy all over the store with antique European-style wooden cabinetry, furnishings and apothecary glasses. It is the ultimate chocolate lover’s destination, complete with an on site factory.
Every nook and corner is filled with imaginative and mouth watering chocolate creations. Sourced exclusively from various Honduran farms, the beans are dried, roasted and pressed in the chocolatier’s brand new facility in La Masica, Honduras. The magical paste-to-bar transformation then unfolds in the Brooklyn factory, parts of which will be on full display for Cacao Market goers.
The Library Café within Cacao Market is a wonderful sit down spot where one can feast on sweet and savoury bites. The menu offers items such as Onion and Leek Quiche, Pastries, Pain au Chocolat, Almond Bostock and Croissants warmed to order and paired with one of Cacao Market’s many chocolate dipping sauces. There are also Seasonal Soups, Salads and French Crêpes and so much more.
Cacao Market will also be the first to introduce Lieberman’s latest creation, an exquisite collection of Fine Éclairs; an assortment of 15 various flavors using exotic ingredients like Lavender, Passion Fruit, and Champagne, these one-of-a-kind delectables will be decorated with her recognized, edible designs and available in petite and grand.
Cacao Market’s packaged products feature chocolate infused innovation at its finest. One of my personal favorites was the Saucisson au Chocolat – which is disguised as the classic French dry cured sausage made with dark chocolate, dried cranberries, roasted Spanish almonds, caramelized cashews, salted crunchy pretzels and sun-dried raisins.
Here’s what I found in my post-event goody bag -a preview of a box of MarieBelle’s Signature New York Caramel Collection.
Cacao Market by MarieBelle is open Monday – Sunday, 11:00am-7:00pm. Make sure you go visit!
