Kurry Qulture in Astoria, Queens just might be one of the hippest Indian restaurants in New York City that you don’t know about.
Disclaimer: I was invited as a guest to this establishment for a complimentary meal. All opinions expressed in this post are my own
I was recently invited to a press dinner with bloggers there and say really impressed.
Owned by Sonny Solomon who previously worked with Michelin Chef Hemant Mathur has consulted with him on creating the vibrant menu that Kurry Qulture offers.
Solomon’s vision for his new Indian spot is to create a destination for modernized, seasonal Indian food. Kurry Qulture is chic and yet retains the warmth of the Indian culture.
The bar has awesome Bollywood beats to go with Indian accented cocktails and more. I could just spend an evening at the bar snacking on small plates.
The food is really good. I preferred the appetizer and small plates over the usual curries and rices – though they do make a really good ‘Chicken Tikka Masala’ and killer ‘Lamb Chops’.
Some of my favorites in the appetizers we tried were the ‘Crispy Cauliflower’, ‘Shrimp Balchao Bruschetta’ and the ‘Achari Chicken Tikka’. You must try their ‘Garlic/ Olive Naan’.
There is so much to like about Kurry Qulture that I think you must go check it out now.
Here is some of what we ate:
Mung Peanut Chaat
Achari Chicken Tikka
KQ Chicken Wings
Crispy Cauliflower
Masala Fried Calamari
Shrimp Balchao Bruschetta
Phool Makhane Ki Sabji
Goan Fish Curry
Chicken Tikka Masala
Lamb Chops
Trio Of Rice
Crispy Okra
