Looking for a down home, no fuss, really good all American comfort food spot – then there’s nothing like Bonnie’s Grill in Park Slope. Started by two guys who were originally from Buffalo and recently taken over by Demetri – this local neighborhood spot will win you over instantly.
Disclaimer: I was invited as a guest to this establishment for a complimentary meal. All opinions expressed in this post are my own
Known primarily for their burgers and wings – we decided to start off with their famous wings – which seem to make it on every “Best Wings To Try” list in NYC.
We opted for the “Hot” sauce. The wings were good although I would have preferred them a tad bit crispier. However the sauce was on point and there was a generous amount of meat on these bones. I would definitely go back for more.
Next up was the “The Bonnie Cubano” a pulled pork sandwich topped with Canadian bacon and their homemade chipotle mayo on a hoagie. This sandwich was off the charts good! Perfect char on the bread, melt in our mouth pulled pork piled up just high enough to be able to take comfortable bite and that chipotle mayo sauce of theirs is just amazing!
Bonnie’s Grill makes a really good Black Angus Sirloin Burger. It’s as simple as can be – not made with meats you can’t pronounce or ingredients that need to be demystified. It’s a burger you understand, connect with and just enjoy eating.
I just have to talk about the fries that came with the burger. They are the best freakin’ fries I have had in a long time! Thin, crispy, perfectly fried just the way I like them.
I think that there should be a Bonnie’s Grill in every neighbourhood. I know for sure that if I had one in mine…..I’d be there all the time!
Here is some of what we ate:
Buffalo Wings
The Bonnie Cubano
Chicken, Bacon, & Avocado Salad
Vegetarian Chili
