A banker turned baker! Caprices by Sophie is a darling little bakery in Williamsburg which specialized in dainty offerings.
The crowning glory of this spot is their Merveilleux which is a Belgian pastry. It is made with meringue, filled with cream and topped with different flavors. We tried the Chocolate Merveilleux and absolutely loved its airiness.
We also tried a sampling of their other offerings such as the éclairs and choux. I was not impressed with either – both were a bit heavy handed and didn’t have the lightness I expected from either.
I would stick to the Merveilleux at Caprices and in good weather would enjoy it in their adorable little outdoor garden space.
