If you ever visit the beautiful pink City of Jaipur in India, you must make a pit stop at Niros for a meal.
Conveniently located on the bustling MI road, right in the heart of the city, Niros is a food haven for locals, tourists and celebrities.
It has been around since 1949 and was one of the first restaurants to serve Chinese food in Japiur. It’s vast menu offers multi cuisine offerings where you can eat anything from the local Rajasthani cuisine to Mughlai, Chinese and Continental fare. You can even order things like kidney on toast and liver onion chips.
The interiors are kind of cheesy but typical of this kind of small town place – though it does have some interesting murals done by one of India’s famous artists – Satish Gujral.
The food at Niro’s holds its own. We mostly tried dishes from their Rajasthani and Indian menu. Their “Laal Maans” which is the mutton dish that Rajasthan is so famous for blew me away.
All in all, a really great meal awaits you at Niros’ along with the warm hospitality that will make your stay in the Pink city even more enjoyable.
Here is some of what we ate:
RAJASTHANI SULA
This lamb is marinated in traditional spices and grilled on a charcoal fire. It was just delicious.
LAL MAANS
This is a traditional Rajasthani mutton dish that is cooked to melt in your mouth perfection and smothered in a spicy red gravy.
ALU PIAZ
This dish is made with onions and potatoes cooked in a traditonal Rajasthani way.
MURG MALAI KABAB & CHICKEN TIKKA
Both their kababs and tikkas were very good.
DAL MAKHNI
The dal was pretty decent.
ROTIS/ NAN
Their rotis and nans were good. I especially enjoyed their missi roti, which is very typical of Rajasthani food.
NIROS SPECIAL DESSERT
The owner of the restaurant insisted that we try their special dessert and so we did. It was interesting – kind of a sponge cake with frozen whipped cream in it – served with a cherry on top.
