Four & Twenty Blackbirds on Urbanspoon

“This must be where pies go when they die,” says a sign as you walk into Four and Twenty Blackbirds. I couldn’t agree with the sign more.

This pie heaven, created by sisters Emily and Melissa Elsen, is the ultimate destination for both sweet and savory pies. The siblings credit their pie making abilities to their grandmother Elizabeth from whom they learned everything they know. The Elsen sisters make fine double-crusted pies, which might just be the hardest ones to perfect. Their piecrusts are perfectly flaky and yet firm and melt in your mouth good!

A pie at Four and Twenty Blackbirds could be filled with anything ranging from leafy greens and herbs to blood orange & rhubarb. The pies depend on seasonal availability of ingredients. There is a limited offering of pies each day and the menu changes daily.

They also offer breakfast items such as egg in a nest and blackbirds bread. Their salted caramel apple pie might just be one of the best pies I’ve ever tried and the chocolate scones area to die for.

At this pie shop – they sure know what they are doing.
