Social Eatz is Top Chef and Top Chef Masters star Angelo Sosa’s newest creation. With a menu focused on Asian-inflected American comfort foods, Sosa creates dishes such as the bibimbap burger or the kung pao sandwich.
The food is pretty good. Some dishes were stand-out good like the Korean accented burgers and the spicy chicken wings. Others just didn’t make the cut like the kung pow sandwich or the much acclaimed yuzu cream puffs – which I thought were just over fried, over flavored dough balls.
Social Eatz, claims that eating should be a social experience and encourage customers to connect with friends, family or even others sitting alongside them whilst at their restaurant. It’s an interesting concept but sounds a little too gimmicky.
For Sosa’s sake, I hope the food can hold its own and Social Eatz can keep up with its celebrity chef’s blazing popularity.
Here is some of what we ate:
TOMATO CURRY SOUP
EDAMAME FRITTERS
HOT WINGS
MAC & CHEESE
BIBIMBAP BURGER
HAMBURGER
KUNG PAO WOW SANDWICH
We haven’t been to Social Eatz in Midtown East, yet. The food looks pretty good, especially the edamame fritters. We’ll definitely be heading near Murray Hill soon, maybe we’ll check out Social Eatz soon.
