Must try: Adana Cut Roll, Bouillabaisse, Smoked Eggplant w/ garlic yoghurt and Whole Roasted Leg of Lamb .
The team from Pera, the midtown Mediterranean restaurant have expanded to new downtown digs in Soho.
I was invited to review Pera Soho, which is an upscale Brasserie that aspires to treat its patrons to an extensive Eastern Mediterranean menu with a lean on Turkish cuisine.
Pera Soho offers some wonderful deals during the week. They have a Sunday Supper, a Wednesdays Seafood & Jazz Night and a Weekend Brunch.
The menu had some high points. My favorites were the Lamb Adana Cut Roll, the Bouillabaisse, the Smoked Eggplant w/ Garlic Yoghurt and the Whole Roasted Leg of Lamb. I could eat buckets of that eggplant dip – it was yummy!
Other of their dishes tended to be under seasoned or just plain lackluster (the crab cake was a huge disappointment).
One of the winning features about Pera Soho is its chic outdoor patio which is enclosed for privacy. In good weather, it makes for the perfect setting for a hipster hang out spot where one can sip on cocktails and nibble on signature mezze during their happy hour.
Here is some of what we ate:
White Bean Dip with Homemade Focaccia
Homemade Pita & Chickpea Chips
Smoked Eggplant w/ Garlic Yoghurt, Spicy Moummara & Hummus
Lamb Adana Cut Roll
Pera Bouillabaisse
Poached Lobster on Crab Cake
Charred Spanish Octopus with Chickpea Ragout and Artichoke Puree
