 Ever tried Yemeni food?

If not, then I highly recommend Bab Al Yemen in Bayridge, Brooklyn as an introduction.

Owned by two brothers Waleed al Jahmi and Abdulghani, the chef, Yemeni cuisine is Arabic food with a difference.

The hummus was marvelous with touch of roasted cumin, which I scooped up with an abundance of their crisp yet yielding khobz (a Yemeni flatbread).

Every dish I tried at Bab al Yemen surprised me. Though the flavors and ingredients were not new to me, the combinations in which it was used and presented made the entire meal a truly novel experience.

Bab al Yemen is named after a famous gate in Sana’a, which is the capital city, and appropriately so as it provides the perfect entry to it’s wonderful cuisine.
