Must try: Omakase Makimono, Omakase
Jewel Bako is an unlikely find in the corky East Village.
This stylish spot presents modernized versions of delectable sushi served by a really dapper crew who really know their stuff.
The design of the dining room is ultra cool. It is fashioned as a tunnel of bamboo that opens up to the sushi bar area (which is the desirable spot to be in).
The service was excellent as were the choices on the menu. I found the prices very reasonable for the kind of fare being served.
It’s no wonder that Jewel Bako has received a Michelin star for eight years in a row.
Here is some of what we ate:
Amuse Bouche
Mushrooms En Papillote
Trio of Tartares
Makimono Omakase
Omakase
Mixed Sushi
Japanese Snowcrab Sushi
Spicy Tuna Rolls and Maguro Rolls
Tuna and Hamchi Rolls
