Jewel Bako is an unlikely find in the corky East Village.

This stylish spot presents modernized versions of delectable sushi served by a really dapper crew who really know their stuff.

The design of the dining room is ultra cool. It is fashioned as a tunnel of bamboo that opens up to the sushi bar area (which is the desirable spot to be in).

The service was excellent as were the choices on the menu. I found the prices very reasonable for the kind of fare being served.

It’s no wonder that Jewel Bako has received a Michelin star for eight years in a row.
