The Brooklyn waterfront in DUMBO is a wonderful spot to hang out at during the warm weather months.

One classic treat to look forward to around here is at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory. It is housed in a landmark 1922 fireboat house on the Fulton FerryLanding Pier, which offers fabulous views of the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan skyline & Statue of Liberty.

The ice cream shop’s owner Mark Thompson has been serving up a selection of classic, all natural flavors with simple toppings. They offer eight flavors (including chocolate, vanilla, butter pecan, and strawberry) and use no preservatives. One can also get banana splits, sundaes, and shakes.

There is always a line out the door at this simple operation but it certainly is worth the experience. There are no gimmicks here – just plain old fashioned, delicious ice cream with a seriously spectacular view.
