Last night, I was invited to one of the most beautifully curated food and wine events. Tarallucci e Vino and Oddero Vineyards from Piemonte indulged us with a most marvelous evening of Barolo, Barbaresco & Truffles.
The truly delightful Isabella Oddero led the evening as the wine ambassador for her family’s vineyards. The Oddero family has been involved in wine making for seven generations now.
For Isabella, each bottle of wine has a story to tell which that takes us to the Oddero estate vineyards on the hills of the Barolo, Barbaresco, Moscato and Barbera d’Asti wine region. She has a true gift for weaving the effort, the sentiment, the passion and story behind each bottle into her words.
With each sip of wine, I could taste not just the flavors she spoke of but the emotion that went into producing that bottle. She truly brought the bottles of Barolo, Barbaresco and more to life.
Executive Chef Andrew Welch of Tarallucci e Vino had composed a stunning 5-course menu highlighting the region’s truffles. Each dish served was paired perfectly with the flavors of the wines being sampled.
The food was truly outstanding. Chef Welch is a master craftsman at his art and each dish, though seemingly simple, has such layers of thought and complexity within it. The perfect symbiosis created between food and wine by both Isabella Oddero and Chef Welch was quite unforgettable.
I cannot even begin to express just how seamlessly the whole evening flowed. Everything from the food, the wine to the company was incredible and I am so grateful to have been a part of this amazing event.
