Must try: Hibiscus Doughnuts
I thought I could not love another doughnut after I tried Doughnut Plant and then along came Dough…. and once again the love affair began.
Pastry-chef Fany Gerson, a James Beard nominated cookbook author, outdoes herself with these handmade yeast doughnuts, which are topped with the most unusual glazes. Fany Gerson also owns La Newyorkina, which is famous for its Mexican-style artisan ice popsicles (paletas).
Dough started in Brooklyn as a small neighborhood store but now has a Manhattan outpost and is available at several food flea markets amongst other spots.
Some of the atypical flavors offered at Dough are “Dulce de Leche”, “Lemon Poppy”, “Tropical Chili” and my very favorite “Hibiscus”.
So if you haven’t yet got your Dough fix for the day….I suggest you go out and get some right now.
Here is some of what we ate:
Hibiscus
Chocolate with Chocolate Nibs
Cinnamon Sugar
