Must try: Beef w/ Crisp Pepper, Chinese Long Bean And Eggplant

Hunan House located on Northern Boulevard, across from Flushing’s historic Town Hall serves one of the best “Beef w/Crisp Pepper” I have ever had.

This spot serves a menu filled with traditional Hunanese dishes, which share an equal amount of heat as Sichuan cuisine, but also has a penchant for the pickled and sour flavors.

Known to local and foodies, Hunan House offers a few standout dishes whilst others really fall flat in flavor. The dish we couldn’t top ordering or eating was the “Beef w/Crisp Pepper” and for me – just this one dish makes this place worth a visit.

They did also have a really excellent “Stir Fried Green Beans and Eggplant”.

I found that at Hunan House – don’t bother ordering any of the chicken dishes – both times we tried two different dishes and they were both bad. Something about the taste of the meat just didn’t sit well with me.

We also tried a stir-fried Chinese greens which was overcooked with a really tasteless sauce.

My advice is that if you go to Hunan House – stick with its star dishes and skip the rest.
