Must try: Rava Dosa
House of Dosas offers exactly what its name suggests – lots and lots of Dosas.
A dosa is a South Indian crepe made with a batter of ground fermented rice and lentils. There are many different kinds and they come with a variety of fillings.
Located in Hicksville, Long Island, the menu at House of Dosas offers other vegetarian dishes too such as “Uthappam” – a thicker pancake type dish, “Idly” – a steamed rice/ lentil cake and other typical dishes from the South.
They also offer a mash up of other regional Indian favorites such as “Bhelpuri” a savory snack made with puffed rice and chutneys and so on.
The dosas here are pretty good – a bit on the dense side but better than most. I rally liked the “Rava Dosa” which is a lighter version of a dosa and their “Bisebela Bhath” which is a mixture of rice and lentils cooked together with several spices.
