Zambar, New Delhi, India

It’s nice to see real South Indian cuisine gaining popularity in the North. Zambar at the Ambience Mall tries to showcase traditional regional dishes from the South. It reveals to the delhi-ites that South Indian food goes beyond just idlis and dosas.

One begins the meal with a rasam (a pepper based clear soup) shot, which sets the tone for the fiery spices that await.

Do try their non-veg platter which is a great dish to be shared if you have a group of people. The vadas and chutneys are really good too.

I wasn’t too impressed by their mutton fry, where I found the meat to be really tough and chewy and the bisi bela bhath lacked punch.

All in all, Zambar is an adequate foray into the wonderful world of South Indian cuisine.
