Alex Stupak a former pastry chef of Alinea/WD50 fame has traded in creating fabulous sweets to composing creative dishes inspired by his roots.
At Empellón Cocina, Stupak is really pushing the envelope with his creative, small plate Mexican cuisine. Here one is encouraged to share and sample a vast range of inventive dishes.
You must try their “Guacamole with pistachios” to start off with. I really loved the texture of their nachos – they are thick cut and really earthy.
Plates that follow were delightfully light and tasty like the “Sliced Mango with Chile Powder and Crab”.
Stupak has really redefined Mexican food with his signature touch at Empellón Cocina.
Here is some of what we ate:
Guacamole with pistachios
Classic pueblo viejo blanco with lime and smoked salt
Sliced Mango with chile powder and crab
Veggie Tacos
Orecchiette w/Mustard Greens
Scallop Ceviche with lime curd and butternut squash
