Meet Lorenzo Lenny Lorenzi, chef and owner of Romagna Ready 2 Go housed in the heart of Greenwich Village.
Hailing from the Emilia-Romagna region, Lorenzi is a seasoned restaurateur, having owned several restaurants in his hometown of Santarcagelo. He now aims to share foods that he grew up eating with a menu that offers something a little different from the usual pizzas and pastas.
At Romagna Ready 2 Go, one of the main offerings is something called a “Piadina”. This is a thin Italian flatbread very typical of the Romagna region, filled with anything from vegetables to meats. Unlike the open faced, crisp flatbreads we are used to, the Piadina is soft and folded over.
One of my favorite dishes at Romagna Ready 2 Go was the “La Vere Lasagne Della Nonna”. This traditional lasagna is made with melt in your mouth, house made noodles and is really one of their standout signature dishes.
Aside from being a chef, Lorenzi is also a talented artist who has created a truly delightful secret garden in his restaurant. This charming space has vintage tables made from old doors, a beautiful array of colors from plants and personal touches like his grandfather’s racing bicycle, which has been painted with the colors of the Italian flag.
The garden is open year round and in winters has a fireplace in the center to add to its charm. It is a perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine and some eats anytime of the year.
