ROKI Le Izakaya, Flatiron, NYC

There’s a new Japanese Brasserie in town that is definitely worth a visit. ROKI Le Izakaya is Chef Koji Hagihara’s new venture, branching out from over 8 years of experience of being at Hataka Tonton (one of NYC’s Japanese sweet spots).

Disclaimer: I was invited as a guest to this establishment for a complimentary meal. All opinions expressed in this post are my own

I was recently invited for a preview dinner where we sampled a range of offerings from the menu. I have to say that I was very impressed by everything we tasted.

We began with a selection of their “canapés” which are combinations of meats/fish/ vegetables served atop crispy sushi rice. They were delicious.

One of my favorite dishes of the evening was the “Pork Belly Bun”. Melt in your mouth pork belly was served in perfect steamed house made buns with cucumbers, mustard and mayonnaise.

I was also really impressed by the “Chasu Shoyu Ramen” – the broth was really flavorful and the noodles had the perfect chewiness to them.

ROKI Le Izakaya is a wonderful addition to the New York dinning scene. I can’t wait to go back for more.

Here is some of what we ate:

Japanese Canape

ROKI Quinoa Salad

Kanpachi Carpaccio

Powdered Foie Gras over Duck Charsiu

ROKI Shrimp Steamed Gyoza

Pork Belly Bun

Classic Chasu Shoyu Ramen

Roasted White Sesame Seed Ice Cream
