Phayul, Jackson Heights, NYC

Not the easiest spot to find as its hoisted atop a strip of tiny Indian stores but finding Phayul is well worth your while as it probably serves some of the best Tibetan food in the area.

Phayul’s momos are amongst my favorite – try the beef ones with some of their spicy sauce drizzled on top.

The soup to try if you are looking for some serious comfort is the “tsak sha la kor” which is made w/ beef, radish with Tibetan mountain herbs. All of this makes for a rich bowl of goodness.

Their blood sausages “gyuma ngoe ma” are crisp on the outside and almost creamy on the inside.

The husband/ wife team of Dawa Lhamo and Chime Tendha have really brought a taste of their home to NYC with Phayul.
