Ravagh Persian Grill is my go to spot for great local Iranian food. What began with just one restaurant about two decades ago in Manhattan has now grown several spread out over New York City and Long Island.
I am usually very wary of restaurants that expand out into several arms as the food tends to be generic and lose its authenticity. Ravagh, however has managed to stay true to its roots as it is family owned and run.
Everything at Ravagh is really fresh and the flavors are simple. Try the appetizers, some of my favorites being the kashk bademjan (eggplant). The kababs are just outstanding. Do try their kubideh and the Jujeh kebabs.
They also have other traditional dishes such as Khoresht Fesenjan, Gormeh Sabzi and more. Im a huge fan of their green dilled rice and grilled vegetables that come in very generous portions along with any entrée.
There are 5 locations of Ravagh in the New York area and are a real blessing for my Persian food cravings.
