Bi Lokma is Chef Orhan Yegen’s tiny Midtown Turkish eatery. The food here is delightfully home-style and really affordable.
Bi Lokma is buzzingly busy for lunch where long lines and cafeteria-style service take over. I would opt to visit during the calmer hours of dinner, where the wonderful warmth of Turkey infuses the space. .
The menu at Bi Lokma presents really simple dishes with clean flavors. The food is authentic and unfussy! In this tiny space they actually have a chef from Adana to make the Adana kebabs (which were delicious). Our hostess Nesrin could not have been friendlier.
I’ve been on a mission to find in New York city some of the flavors I experienced in Turkey and have been terribly disappointed numerous times… till now.
Bi Lokma in Turkish means “one bite.” Well, that’s all I needed to be hooked!
Here is some of what we ate:
Coban Salad
Patican
Cacik
Musakka
Chicken Adana
