Michelin starred chef Yoshihiko Kousaka of Jewel Bako fame now owns Kosaka in the West Village.
This serene 18 seater serves an omakase only menu for $125, and a chef’s tasting for $155. The space is adorned with gorgeous ceramic ware made by artists that are for sale.
Chef Kousaka oversees every delicate piece of fish that is plated. His fish is imported from Tsukiji Market in Tokyo and also sourced locally from the New York area. Kousaka’s style of sushi is fairly traditional, where the flavors are all about the freshness of the fish. He makes minute scores in the nigiri, which allows for the soy sauce to settle in perfectly.
Kosaka offers a really excellent sushi experience at a price point that is comparable to any in the same league in New York City.
