The Spice Route journeys from the Malabar Coast in Kerela, India to the ends of South East Asia touching on the tastes and flavors along the way.
Set in the gorgeous Imperial Hotel, the restaurant Spice Route has been designed by Rajeev Sethi. It was painstakingly created over a period of 7 years. Based on the principles of Feng –Sui, the space is filled with striking, intricate elements, antiques and details from all over South East Asia. The results are quite stunning and really worth experiencing.
The Cosmopolitan Club is one of the older clubs in Chennai city (formerly known as Madras). It was started in 1873 to cater to a European only, elite clientele.
Things have come a long way since then and it currently has a huge local membership. The Cosmopolitan Club is now rather run down, but in its hallways hang beautiful photographs that remind us of gorgeous Madras of the past. Continue reading

Leopold Café is one of the most popular restaurants located on Mumbai’s Colaba Causeway. The Jahani family, who were Zoroastrian immigrants from Iran, founded it in 1871. It is currently co-owned and run by two brothers Farzadh & Farhang Jahani.

Chandini Chowk is truly India, as it should be experienced. I love every bit of it from the overfilled narrow streets that is equally shared by cars, people, animals, scooters, bicycles and so much more to the small stalls and street peddlers, selling everything from dinky little plastic toys, to mouthwatering food delights.
On one of these little streets is Karim’s, one of the best-known food spots in Chandini Chowk. Karim’s is run by the descendants of the royal chefs who prepared delicacies for the Imperial Kitchens of the Mughal Dynasty who ruled India in the 1700’s. Khan Chacha has a winning formula that is so simple. They serve melt in your mouth kababs, both veg and non-veg and wrap it in a thin, delicate, roomali roti (Indian bread). Throw in a sprinkling of fresh onions, some seasonings and a hit of spicy mint chutney and viola – in minutes you are digging into a really satisfying and healthy quick bite.
